CAN FD Triggering and Decode Option for Keysight Oscilloscopes
10 June 2015 – Keysight Technologies introduced ISO CAN FD (controller area network with flexible data rate) decoding and triggering for its InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series oscilloscopes. The new capabilities improve engineers’ efficiency in debugging the ISO 11898-1 standard CAN FD, as well as the original non-ISO CAN FD protocol.
BitScope: Prototyping Board and multi-channel Solution
08 June 2015 - BitScope introduced low cost Micro Snap prototyping boards for BitScope Micro. These little boards are designed to plug into and (optionally) be powered by BitScope Micro. The board can be used to build all sorts of simple circuits for prototyping and educational purposes. BitScope Micro oscilloscope can be used to visualise circuit operation and explain to students how the electronic components work together.
Keysight extends Duration of Instrument Service
02 June 2015 - Keysight Technologies has extended the available service period beyond the industry standard for many of its popular instruments that are no longer in production. The new Extended Service Period (ESP) program addresses a frequent request from customers who need to keep crucial test equipment operating over the life of multi-decade programs. In addition, Keysight is now offering multi-year Warranty Assurance plans that enable end users to lock in peak instrument performance for up to 10 years.
Decoding of 8b/10b Buses with Oscilloscope
26 May 2015 - added a new option to its R&S RTO oscilloscope. The new R&S RTO-K52 decoding option helps developers design, verify and debug modules with 8b/10b encoded buses up to 6.25 Gbit/s. At the push of a button, the R&S RTO uses the option's full autoset function to determine the channel, decision level and bit rate settings, allowing developers to quickly start measuring. All of these settings can be readjusted manually.
TiePie releases new Version of Cross-platform SDK
18 May 2015 - TiePie released the new Version 0.5 of the LibTiePie library for its USB oscilloscopes. LibTiePie is available for Windows and various Linux platforms, including Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone Black, RIoTboard and Wandboard Dual. LibTiePie supports the USB oscilloscopes Handyscope HS5, Handyprobe HP3, Handyscope HS4 and Handyscope HS4 DIFF.
New PicoScope drivers for MATLAB
15 May 2015 - Pico Technology updated the MATLAB Instrument Driver package for the PicoScope 3000 Series to support the new PicoScope 3000D and 3000D MSO oscilloscopes. The MATLAB Generic Instrument Driver allows to acquire data from the PicoScope 3000 Series High-Performance Oscilloscopes and control the signal generator. The data could be processed in MATLAB using functions from Toolboxes such as the Signal Processing Toolbox.
Rohde & Schwarz received 2015 Global Frost & Sullivan Award
12 May 2015 - Based on its recent analysis of the oscilloscopes market, Frost & Sullivan recognises Rohde & Schwarz with the 2015 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Innovation and Leadership. Within just five years of entering the oscilloscope market, Rohde & Schwarz developed an impressive product portfolio that helped it expand its footprint globally. Recognising early on that penetrating this market would be a challenge, Rohde & Schwarz focused on making value additions to its solutions by offering new capabilities and/or enhancing existing solutions.

Oscilloscope Probes – Vital Link in the Measurement Chain
Signal measurement results can only be as accurate as the test and measurement tools in use. As clock rates and edge speeds of today’s electronic circuits increase, probing becomes a critical piece of the measurement system – the component that comes in direct contact with your circuit. This article looks at voltage probing considerations for embedded system and digital design debugging applications.

Precision Phase Noise Measurement with an Oscilloscope - Part 1
Often clock jitter induced from the power supply noise, signal routings, or other signals severely degrade the performance of the system. Clock generation and distribution in a FPGA for a high speed analog application is particularly prone to these issues. They manifest themselves in phase noise or clock jitter, which is the random variation of the period of a signal over time. Clearly, optimization of the design requires verification of the integrity of such clocks.
