14 March 2018 - Tektronix introduced two new optical modules for its DSA8300 sampling oscilloscope that offer the industry's highest sensitivity and lowest noise, giving manufacturers the confidence they need to increase production capacity and improve yields for 400G designs moving into production. Tektronix also announced enhanced support for the latest 400G PAM4 TDECQ measurements with a software package optimized for 4 channel parallel processing for high throughput manufacturing test.
First 56 GBd 400G PAM4 Optical Probe for Real Time Oscilloscopes
13 March 2018 – Tektronix introduced the industry’s first 56 GBd 400G PAM4 optical probe for use with Tektronix DPO70000SX Series real-time oscilloscopes. Joining the award-winning 33 GHz DPO7OE1 introduced last year, the new 59 GHz DPO7OE2 single mode optical probe delivers the performance and advanced debug capabilities designers need to troubleshoot 400G PAM4 components and reduce time to market.
Differential Attenuator for Voltages up to 1000 V
26 February 2018 - TiePie engineering introduced the new Differential attenuator TP-DA25 to increase the input range of the Handyscope HS6 DIFF when performing differential measurements. The TP-DA25 is a differential 1:25 attenuator, combined with a low noise differential measure lead. It is specially designed to be used with the Handyscope HS6 DIFF, to measure high voltages up to 1000 V CAT II.
Physical-Layer Test of PCI Express 4.0 Receivers and Transmitters
02 February 2018 – Teledyne LeCroy announces the release of key elements of a PCI Express 4.0 (PCIe Gen4) test solution, integrating its LabMaster 10Zi-A oscilloscope with the Anritsu Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) MP1900A BERT. The comprehensive system provides high-speed IC, device, and network engineers with one complete solution to conduct automated transmitter and receiver compliance tests, as well as link equalization verification.
New Probes for Power Measurements
31 January 2018 - Rohde & Schwarz broadens its oscilloscope probe portfolio for power measurements by introducing the R&S RT-ZPR40 power rail probe with 4 GHz bandwidth and the new R&S RT-ZHD high voltage differential probes. The R&S RT-ZHD probes are designed for complex measurements on state-of-the-art power electronics with voltages up to 6000 V.
Compact low-cost 8-in-1 Oscilloscope
18 January 2018 - Rohde & Schwarz launched the new R&S RTC1000 oscilloscope series. Starting at a price of EUR 835, the instrument’s comprehensive features are tailored to meet the needs of users in the field of education, engineers with low budgets and hobbyists. The compact oscilloscope can double as an eight-channel logic analyzer, a four-channel pattern generator and a protocol analyzer for I2C, SPI, UART/RS-232, CAN and LIN; and as a digital voltmeter, component tester, spectrum analyzer and counter.

Precision Phase Noise Measurement with an Oscilloscope - Part 1
Often clock jitter induced from the power supply noise, signal routings, or other signals severely degrade the performance of the system. Clock generation and distribution in a FPGA for a high speed analog application is particularly prone to these issues. They manifest themselves in phase noise or clock jitter, which is the random variation of the period of a signal over time. Clearly, optimization of the design requires verification of the integrity of such clocks.
